I love this, Grant. I've been looking over the arc of my life for about ten years now. In a time of failure, I saw I had an all-or-nothing, "broken story" that I was either a success OR a failure. So, I began by tracing moments of God's steadfast, loyal love. Then I began to call it "looking for beauty in the brokenness." When I have conversations with friends about this, we are story companions who help each other see the life arc better. Thanks for adding more to my understanding of sharing my story and striving for authenticity.
This was a gift, Grant! So much to chew on— I’ll be back for a second helping of it soon ☺️ Thank you for honoring God with your gifts of grace-filled teaching which nourish His body in deep ways🙏🏼
This reminds me of the part in Elijajs story where he was hiding in the cave and God led Him out. Where it says God wasnt in the earthquake or the fire but in the soft whisper of a cool breeze.
God's fingerprints are all over our lives, even in the less dramatic parts.
This article is so right on target for where I am now. I love it! Thanks for sharing. I have journaled and kept notes for over 30 years. Now I find myself attempting to put it all together in one cohesive story to share because God has accomplished some miraculous transformations in my life and family. I would always get frustrated when His answers didn't happen overnight, but now looking back in my journals, I see His fingerprints and footsteps everywhere. He is amazing and creative.
All beautifully said Grant. I've never put together my testimony. Like you, I can't point to any single dramatic moment when I was introduced to Christ. But I always felt His presence as I grew up and I remember talking with Him from an early age. Now at 67, I realize that everyday I walk with Him is a testimony to His faithfulness, His provision, and His wonderful promise to spend eternity with Him.
For anyone who thinks their story isn't interesting, there are more people who believe the same. Every Christian testimony is God's story to be shared.
This is such a great perspective. You never know who you could impact by sharing something that seems uninteresting. God’s glory can be expressed through even the most mundane moments!
This is an absolutely rich Monday morning feast, Grant. I've already shared it with my people, but I will be back to savor your wise observations as the week goes on.
Grant, this is excellent. I’m in the middle of sharing the early days of my spiritual journey and just completed part 2 today (it’ll publish Sunday morning). I am writing from a clear understanding of being complete in Him. And you’re right: knowing that leads to freedom to share the good, the bad, and the ugly without feeling superior to others or shame for my past failures.
Thank you for a great inspiring article. Encouraging words to live by. I often share my testimony verbally in private conversstions, in formal settings or in religious settings but I have been hesitant to write. Your suggestions and prompts have sparked my enthusiasm to write.
