This is so good. Rest has been a big theme this past year for me- sabbath, being still, and resting in the Lord. I love what you said about writing from a place of rest. After a technology break this spring, I haven’t been producing as much. I’ve been leaning into that for now. I only write when God inspires something.
I love your encouragement to wait until thoughts are ripe. This DOES take hours, days, weeks of “producing nothing” sometimes. Staring out the window and taking phone-free walks really are a writer’s calling! (#Bestjobever)
Thank you for helping me reframe how I look at my writing as a Christian author. "I believe that the most significant shift happens when we move from writing about God to writing with Him." I needed to read and read again that sentence.
I had been overwhelmed and overthinking about what to write and how I wanted to sound and all of that but the Holy Spirit reminded that it's about Jesus not me. He would give me what He wants to say. It's not in my position to overthink about it. He would say it how He wants to.
This post just expressly relates to the clarity I needed from the Holy Spirit. I'm blessed by this. Thank you.
So good, Grant. Insight with answers. There's too much here to give it all the attention it deserves all at once. For me, this isn't just another article, but a fountain of wisdom for meditation. Thank you.
God is so intimately with you that when you are clear enough, when you are truly at rest, his words flow through you. You don't write with him, he writes through you.

That’s a great way to go about it. So much better than being stressed about it all the time!

That is so true! Those times are just as important as the actual writing.

So good, and right on time! Thank you for your transparency!!

Praise God, that’s such a blessing to hear!
You are truly inspired and inspiring-your message very much resonates with me. Bless you!
I love this. I wrote my senior capstone on written communion, and I’d never seen someone else use the term before. Really good stuff!

I know what it is like to write with Elohim and to write without Him.
To write from the overflow of my spiritual life and to stubbornly keeping pressing on till I'm exhausted.
And still the temptation to write on my own strength is so strong.
Thank you for this reminder.

Writing as a form of praise of God, and the observation of Sabbath are so important. Thanks for this pleasant read Grant
Excellent!
