YES! Although I write content typically deemed "Christian," I also write for business clients. I see my "secular" writing as God's provision and a form of stewardship.
I also read a lot of "secular" content, and I'm so, so grateful for excellent writers who thoughtfully and skillfully craft words that teach, inform, and inspire me, even when the topics are not "spiritual". Sometimes, these writers actually prompt me to worship. Recently, after finishing a secular novel, I prayed, "Thank you, Lord, for this writer—for the beauty of her words and the thought-provoking message of her story." I don't know if she's a Christian or not, but I saw God's hand all over her book.
"The key is surrender—real surrender, not the anxious kind that constantly second-guesses every desire." I love this. Great insights. We can get so insecure about issues God never intended for us to question.
Thanks. As you imply, it’s so important not to view God as anthropomorphic, as possessing human attributes, where we feel guilty in situations He isn’t looking at us that way. ‘His ways are higher than our ways.’
Grant you've packed so much truth, invitation, and permission into every line. As always, I am so appreciative of your work and how you speak into my life as a pastoral counselor, a woman of 'a certain age,' and an everyday human being.
This post is one I shall need to come back to from time to time as a reminder that it's okay to write about our passions, even when God is not mentioned once in the text. It's also a reminder to not feel forced to write Christian content (especially if we feel our communities expect that from us). As a hobby photographer, I love to post beautiful landscapes, just so people feel better about the world they live in. There are no scripture verses on top of pictures or in the content. Just spreading the beauty of our world from my small place in it.... And I think God would like that, too. :)
This post blessed me in so many ways! The struggles are real and a lot of things has been mentioned I’ve been dealing with. Thank you for giving me clarity and looking at things from new perspectives! God is good. 😌 Blessings!!
This has been a great burden and source of confusion. Thank you so much for being a vessel of clarity
Praise God, I’m glad it could help.
Such a beautiful and much needed reminder—thank you!
Praise God! Thanks for reading :)
Thank you so much for this!

Amen to that. Thanks, Patty.
Thank you for answering one of the biggest questions in my heart.
Praise God! That's wonderful to hear.

Bless you, friend.

I needed to read this. Precisely. Thank you 🙏🏼
Thank you for a thoughtful piece. God created the outdoors you write about, after all. And with a renewed mind, you view it uniquely.
Well said and could be applied to other professions vs how we spend our time.
