Have you ever noticed how your writing experience changes depending on where you're writing from?

When I'm writing under pressure, the words often come painfully—each one squeezed out like the last bit of toothpaste from a nearly empty tube. But when I write from a place of rest and identity in Christ, there's a different flow entirely.

That's why I created this journaling template.

It's not a writing formula or content framework. Not really.

It's an invitation to discover writing as a sacred practice—one that flows from your identity in Christ rather than striving from natural ability.

This template guides you through what I call the "Journey Framework"—a four-part process that mirrors how God often works in our lives.

In short, He meets us where we are (connection), acknowledges our struggle (tension), reveals His truth (insight), and transforms us through it (transformation).

What's Inside

  • 11 pages of guided journaling prompts

  • A four-part journaling framework (Connection, Tension, Insight, Transformation)

  • Thoughtful questions to help you explore your topic deeply

  • Space to reflect on Scripture's guidance for your message

  • Prompts for personal application and reader transformation

  • A simple structure to organize your thoughts before writing

  • A reminder page on writing from rest rather than striving

  • A dedicated space for prayer and surrender

This template is designed to help you approach writing as a sacred practice, bringing your authentic voice to the words God has placed on your heart.

When to Use This Template

This template isn't necessarily designed for daily use—it's a deeper dive that serves specific purposes in your writing journey:

  • For Deeper Exploration: When you sense God has given you something significant to share but you're struggling to articulate it clearly. The template helps you explore what's been placed on your heart.

  • For Important Pieces: When writing something that matters deeply to you—perhaps a cornerstone piece for your newsletter, a chapter for your book, or a message you'll share with your community.

  • As a Quarterly Practice: Set aside time every few months to work through this template with an important topic. This can create a rhythm of intentional, Spirit-led content development.

  • When Feeling Disconnected: If you find yourself writing mechanically or struggling with writer's block, this template can help reconnect your writing to your relationship with God.

Think of this template not as another daily task but as a special tool for those moments when you want to gauge how your writing is flowing.
